A lot of things have been happening to our volleyball girls the past couple of weeks! First of all, we had 4 girls that made the Commercial Appeal Best of Preps team. Taylor Ferrante, Antoinette Lewis, Kimari Terrell, and Lauren Deaton were all recognized. Taylor Ferrante and Lauren Deaton are finalists for our area. Antoinette Lewis also made Harding history being only the fourth Lady Lion to be in the 2,000 point club for basketball. She was recognized at the King and Queen of Hearts basketball game on Friday, January 27.

http://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/high-school/2016/12/31/tswa-announces-all-state-volleyball-teams/96030196/ Your Lady Lions ended an incredible season on October 22. After regular season, the 2016 team won the regional championship on October 6. Michael Sansone was also named Coach of the Year for our region.
The team then hosted BGA on October 15 for the substate match to advance to tournament play in Murfreesboro. They defeated BGA in 3 sets. State tournament play started on October 19 with a victory. After losing to Knoxville Webb on Thursday morning, the girls once again defeated St. George's to get them to the championship game Friday morning against Knoxville Webb. The team fought hard for three sets to come up short for the state championship match. We could not be any prouder of the girls and what they accomplished this season! Last night was a busy night for Harding volleyball. We had three matches against Hutchison. Freshman, junior varsity, and varsity teams won all three matches to claim a successful night!
These next two weeks will be full of volleyball for our girls. We play tonight at FACS and at home on Thursday night to host IC. Varsity will travel to Murfreesboro for a tournament this weekend. We have three more matches during the week next week before varsity plays in the Hoover tournament in Alabama for the weekend. Prayers for safety in matches and in traveling are greatly appreciated!! Congratulations to Lauren Deaton on being named Commercial Appeal's Player of the Week! We're so proud of you Lauren!!!

Last night, ECS came to Sisson gym to take on our two teams for Alumni Night. JV lost the first set but came back and won the next two to defeat ECS. Varsity swept in three sets to come out on top for the night. JV starts their weekend off today at 4:00 playing in the Houston JV Tournament. Wish our girls the best of luck!!! Last Thursday both the JV and varsity teams played again St. George's at home and battled to get two victories for the night! JV won the match in two games and varsity won by going into five games.
This weekend varsity played in the Collierville tournament playing ten matches throughout the weekend. The team finished up second place out of 24 teams, being runner-up in the gold division. Last night both teams went to Houston to play. The JV lost the match in two sets while the varsity won in three games. The Lady Lions play tonight at Fayette Academy at 5:00 and 6:00. Both JV and varsity teams celebrated a win Tuesday night against Catholic. The JV team won the match in two sets 25-4 and 25-5. Varsity won in three sets 25-3, 25-8, and 25-6. It was a great first win to have under our belts. The Lady Lions take on St. George's at home tonight at 5:00 and 6:00.
We had a good weekend in Brentwood playing some very good competition and getting better as a team. Both varsity and JV played five matches on Saturday. We start our regular season this week at Catholic on Tuesday and host St. George's on Thursday. Go Lady Lions!!
